Message: I was driving my 1968 Ford F350 truck across the country from San Jose to Boston when it broke down and had to be towed to Elko, Nevada. The towing company (Lostra Brothers) recommended Gary Konakis Automotive as a place where they understood this vintage of vehicle. Gary listened to my tale of woe and fit my truck into his schedule promptly. He was able to quickly trouble shoot the problem and had me back on the road in a couple hours. I had no more problems for the rest of the trip thanks to Gary. It's nice to find a mechanic who can actually troubleshoot problems and fix the root cause instead of just replacing parts until the vehicle runs again.. My truck had this recurring problem every 1000 miles or so that other shops were not able to diagnose. They just put in new points and sent me on my way.. Gary was able to determine that a coil/resistor/points mismatch caused the points to burn up every 1000 miles. I've now driven it 6000 miles since he made the repair and it's still running like a top. He saved my bacon and I am eternally grateful.
